Hi I’m Matt Sugai, or Sugai Sensei!

I’ve been working in the health and fitness industry for over a decade now, with my passion for helping people make changes to their lives.

I’ve worked in commercial gyms for over 7 years helping clients and gym members achieve fantastic results and now have shifted my attention to online coaching as well as continuing to work as a tutor for Personal Trainers. The “Sensei” part came naturally to me, as I enjoy teaching and making exercise and nutrition easy to understand.

Some things that you might not know about me:

At the age of 16, I fell into the “obese” category for my BMI (body mass index). I significantly went through a transformation in my late teens, losing a lot of weight (and from now what I know muscle too), and then later on I started to add back the muscle I lost so I know the difficulties that people can face for both fat loss and muscle building.

Every little step counts, I will be able to coach you in realistic ways, that fits your lifestyle to help you reach your goals.

As I started to shift to become a fitness tutor, I also started getting a lot of work for my other passion, which is DJing. I DJ’ed regularly in pubs, bars, and clubs (and sometimes festivals) to the point a lot of peers would call me a full-time DJ.

I really understand as you get older life can throw a lot more at you, and you can end up playing a juggling act! Before the Corona virus it was normal for me to be playing 3-4 DJ gigs a week, as well as working 3-4 days in a gym teaching Personal Trainers and fitting in my own workouts in 3-4 times a week! With a little bit of planning, and realistic adjustments it can all just about be managed.

In my online coaching program, I’ll make things as simple as possible for you, so you can fit in health and fitness into your busy schedules.
